About

Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder WHERE you are…?

Starlight is a good source of Vitamin-N for children according to Richard Louv, that is N for Nature. These days, sky blindness is common among children and adults due to the extensive light pollution created by our urban sprawling. The amount of light pollution in the night skies has increased dramatically in the past few decades, due to illuminating our cities with no particular care for the darkness of the sky. Research in Attention Restoration Theory sheds a light on the health risks of increased light pollution and disconnections to our skies.

This thesis is divided into the theoretical approach of Light Pollution as Environmental Stressor Through the Lens of Attention Restoration Theory and a case study Design solution to address the preservation of our night sky and advance a theory of how conscious design can protect darkness.
